Creative Rat Ideas
This page is dedicated to creative ideas for toys, treats, games, etc. for your new rattie friends. Do you have a great idea? We'd love to hear about it!
The Rat Pinata
Here's a more creative idea than just putting your rattie's treats in the food bowl. Put your rat's favorite treats in a paper towel, tie it closed with a piece of string and hang it from the top of your rat's cage, and Voila! Instant toy! To make it even more interesting, put the treats in a toilet paper tube and fold in the ends, then hang it up. It increases the difficulty level and makes your ratties work harder!
Peanut Butter Rat Cookies
Want to make your rat live longer? These cookies include chromium picolinate - proven to extend the life of pet rats!
2 Tablespoons whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon peanut butter
1-3 teaspoons fruit juice
40 day dosage of chromium picolinate (crush the tablets) = this is equivalent to about 6000 micrograms(mcg) for a .75 lb rat
Mix the flour and chromium picolinate. Cut in the peanut butter with a knife. Add just enough juice to hold the dough together. Knead lightly and roll out on a floured plate. Cut into 40 equal-sized pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes (toaster ovens work great). Cookies should be slightly chewy. Store in an airtight container in the frig. Feed one cookie to a rat each evening.
